Family Health West is pleased to announce Lori Randall as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Lori was born in Craig, “a true western slope girl”, and moved to Collbran when her parents bought Mesa Lakes Resort. She attended Brigham Young University and the University of Portland in Oregon where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She proceeded to work for Georgetown University for seven years, obtaining certification in orthopedic nursing. She then worked for Blue Cross / Blue Shield gaining experience in medical recovery, case management, utilization review and health insurance all while continuing to work in acute care nursing. She moved to Grand Junction and that is when she found herself working at Family Health West in 1996.
“I started working a part-time night shift in the nursing home and was not sure I would last because I had no experience in long-term care,” said Lori. “I received my certification in geriatric nursing, a year later I came on full-time and 20 years later, here I am!”
Lori quickly moved into leadership roles, first as the Director of Nurses, then Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Director of Nursing and Hospital Administrator, Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Clinical Services, and now adding Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President to her list of roles.
“We had the vision for a new hospital in 2006 and weren’t sure how we would make it happen,” said Lori. “The City of Fruita stepped up and with their partnership, the hospital seemed to happen overnight.”
This kind of collaboration is one of the reasons Lori believes the organization has expanded. “Family Health West has always aimed to meet the community’s needs, no matter the hurdles we have encountered. We do the right thing for the right reasons and fortunately, have local partners who work together for the betterment of our patients and their families.”
“Lori has the vision and the dedication that is necessary in the role of Chief Operating Officer,” said Family Health West President and CEO, Mark J. Francis. “Lori possesses the talent and the expertise, but what really sets her apart is her heart. She is able to lead our staff by seeing the possibilities of the organization and in each of us as individuals.”
In her free time and recently married, Lori enjoys cooking, crocheting and spending time with her new husband and four children, one of whom is on a mission. “I’m looking forward to being a grandma,” she says with a smile.
