To help promote health and wellness, the Fruita Community Center and Family Health West are offering a speaker series free to the local community. The series covers a broad spectrum of topics intended to help enhance one’s health and well-being. All presentations will be held at the Fruita Community Center at 324 N. Coulson, Fruita, Colo.
Dr. Michael Neste, Medical Director of Radiology at Colorado Canyons Hospital & Medical Center, is presenting Tuesday, October 18 from 6-7pm. His topic, “Breast Cancer and the Role of Mammography: the Latest Updates and Recommendations,” is specific to October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
There’s been some confusion, especially in the last year, after the American Cancer Society released new guidelines for breast cancer screening. Dr. Neste will address these questions and discuss the latest updates and recommendations. Women will have an opportunity to schedule a mammogram that evening.
Dr. Neste is originally from Minnesota and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota. He completed his residency and a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Michigan. As Medical Director of Radiology at Colorado Canyons Hospital & Medical Center, Dr. Neste reads all radiographic studies, performs minimally invasive procedures, and oversees all standards and protocols for the department.
