Family Health West is pleased to announce that Barbara Alber has been named as the new Director of Administrative Services.
In addition to serving as Executive Assistant, Barbara will oversee administrative operations and staff to ensure daily operations run smoothly and are consistent with Administrative objectives. She will also provide administrative support to the President/CEO, the Governing Board, and senior leadership; and she will handle oversight of contracts, regulatory licensing, and insurance.
“Knowing the history of our organization and actively participating in our growth is exciting,” said Barbara. “I gain personal satisfaction from knowing that at the end of the day I’ve contributed to the lives of our patients and residents.”
Barbara grew up in Mesa, Colorado, graduating from Plateau Valley High School before earning her degree in Executive Business Management at Barnes Business College in Denver.
Following her college graduation, Barbara served as an Administrative Assistant for a mortgage company, followed by several years as Office Manager for a design firm that specialized in strategic development of Fortune 50 companies such as Tyson, Gerber, Boeing, and Scott. She moved back to the Western Slope in 1999 and started at Family Health West a year later on a temporary assignment. Sixteen years later, Barbara is still at Family Health West and has been a part of Administration since 2002.
“Barbara is an integral part of our Administration,” said Family Health West President and CEO, Mark J. Francis. “She understands the organization – where we’ve been and where we’d like to go. Her ability to keep things running smoothly and maintain focus on our goals while managing a variety of complex tasks at Family Health West will serve her well as Director of Administrative Services.”
Barbara considers herself an outdoors girl who loves exploring Western Colorado and mountain towns, traveling to new places, hiking, camping, attending fun outdoor festivals, and dining out. Her kids also keep her busy – her daughter graduates from CMU and her son graduates from Fruita Monument High School within the same week this May. Following their graduation, she’s looking forward to some downtime and traveling with her new husband.
