May 28, 2015 – Colorado Canyons Hospital and Medical Center of Family Health West in Fruita recently formed their Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The PFAC is dedicated to the improvement of health care service and delivery and is comprised of past and present patients and family members, as well as Family Health West staff members.
“Patients and their families are often the most knowledgeable members of the care team, and can offer unique perspectives and valuable feedback regarding the standard of care they receive,” said Lori Henderson, Family Health West Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “Our patient advisors will consist of a diverse group representing different genders, ages, incomes, and experiences.”
Together with Family Health staff members, the PFAC will accomplish the following:
- Identify patient and family needs and concerns.
- Provide feedback on current systems and processes in the hospital.
- Generate new ideas to improve the standard of care.
- Act as catalysts and advocates to integrate patient-centered care across the institution.
“We are seeking patients and their family members to join the PFAC who are interesting in providing constructive feedback,” said Family Health West Director of Quality, Lynn Finley. “In order for Colorado Canyons Hospital to advance and improve, we need to hear from those who are most impacted: our patients.”
