The Red Baron Ball

The Red Baron Ball is an annual fundraising event for Family Health West, with one FHW facility each year designated as the recipient of the donations. While the event recently modernized, the traditional Red Baron Ball would begin with a social and silent auction followed by an exquisite dinner, including local wine and a fabulous dessert. After dinner, guests enjoyed a live auction and dancing to live music.

The Red Baron Ball’s History

Family Health West’s first Red Baron Ball was held in the West Star Aviation hangar at the Grand Junction Regional Airport in 1989. The runways were lined with 1940s era biplanes and various other aircraft, and naming the event the Red Baron Ball after the WWI flying ace. A B-1B Lancer was flown in for the occasion and the hangar doors were open as a harvest moon rose above the Grand Mesa. Known for its impressive auction items, the event has grown to become one of the community’s premier events, selling out each year.
