Family Health West Celebrates Art for Health

Family Health West is pleased to announce Bob Martin as the winner of the bi-annual Art for Health competition. Bob began painting for fun and relaxation while working as a co-owner of a full service florist business in Phoenix, Arizona. The Art for Health Reception will take place Wednesday, December 9, from 5:30–6:30pm in the Colorado Canyons Hospital Lobby.

Ten years ago Bob’s interest in painting evolved to a serious level. He took classes and workshops with well-known artists to perfect his style. He studied under David Manje and Harold Nelson in Arizona; and Stephan Datz, Dan Young, Dan Loge, Travis Jardan, and Charles Morris in Colorado.

Bob Martin-Art for Health Winner

Bob Martin’s artwork was chosen as the winner of the bi-annual Art for Health competition. His artwork employs a wet-on-wet style with an impressionable approach and the use of vibrant colors, such as the image shown here. Bob’s artwork will be on display at the Colorado Canyons Hospital & Medical Center in Fruita.

Bob continues to emerge as an artist with his own “all prima” or wet-on-wet style. He prefers an impressionable approach and the use of vibrant colors.

Bob’s work has won awards at numerous venues. He has been accepted in juried shows and shown in galleries including Alpine Holiday Festival, Glenwood Springs Fall Art Festival, Brush and Palette Club of Grand Junction, Grand Junction Art and Jazz Festival, The Blue Pig in Palisade, and the Arvada Art Center. Bob’s goal is to continue to enter juried shows and find his place in the Colorado art arena.

Bob resides in Grand Junction with his wife Kathy Martin, who is an artist in pastels, oils, and acrylics.

“We are thrilled to have Bob’s work in our Hospital,” added Angelina Salazar, Director of Community Relations. “Our patients, staff, families, and friends all have the opportunity to not only view what our local artists are doing, but to experience an environment that promotes healing. We thank the Fruita Arts and Culture Board for selecting us as a venue for this very important endeavor.”
